I've Got the Epson Blues...

MAINSTREAM PRESS REPORTS

Initially, discussion about this problem seemed to exist only in specialized online areas. More recently, however, coverage of the problem has reached the mainstream press. PC World Magazine wrote a story about the orange shift. Read the article and then read the letter to the editor I wrote to PC World.

The story's also been picked up by a newspaper in New Zealand. And CNN Online reprinted the PC World article, exposing it to what I believe is a much larger audience.

You might also enjoy an open letter to Epson, written by Bruce Fraser, that appeared in a recent issue of MacWeek. And now there's a response from Dan Crane, Epson's VP of marketing, which you can read here. Finally, I've written a reply, which you can find here.

Byte Magazine columnist David Em published an article about the problem. Initially, he accepted Epson's explanation that the orange shift occurred only on Epson PGPP paper. Many people contacted him to take issue with his report and several people, including me, sent him samples of the orange shift on numerous other paper types.

This evidence prompted Mr. Em to take a more balanced approach in a follow up article.
