DIRECTIONS
FOR VACATIONERS
Largest of the Golden Isles off
of Georgia's Atlantic coast, St. Simons Island is convenient to I-95 for those
visitors close enough to drive.
For those vacationers coming by
air, there are Delta flights into Savannah, GA and Jacksonville, FL, both about
an hours drive from St. Simons. There are also flights into Brunswick, GA
and to the small airport on the island (McKinnon).
- From I-95, you will take Exit 38
for Saint Simons Island
- At the end of the exit, you will take a left
onto Highway 25, a divided highway.
BE CAREFUL; IT IS A DANGEROUS INTERSECTION.
- This divided highway will eventually go into a
right curve and turn into Highway 17.
- Stay in the left lane for about 1½ miles.
You will come to the intersection to turn onto the causeway
for Saint Simons. Take a left
onto the causeway (Torras Causeway).
- You will have to pay at the toll booth—35
cents.
- When you leave the toll booth, you will have a
little time to get into the right lane.
You will go over three bridges:
the first two bridges are a high ones; the second one
is a flat one and is right by a marina.
- Right after you cross the flat bridge you are
actually on the island. Bear right immediately onto
Kings Way.
This road eventually changes names and becomes
Ocean
Boulevard—you will pass houses, the village, a school,
Crab Trap, Ocean Motion, Beach
Club all along this road. Eventually
you will ride by a big marsh which will be on your left.
- THIS
STEP IS WHERE MOST PEOPLE GET LOST.
You
will stay on Ocean Blvd. until you come to a STOP sign where Ocean Blvd
intersects with East Beach Causeway.
Stop.
(Note:
at the STOP sign you should be looking directly across to the
“East Beach Neighborhood Watch” sign). TAKE A RIGHT
AT THE STOP SIGN.
- Now you will come to another STOP sign.
Stop. Go right
again. You
are now driving past the rear of the Old Coast Guard Station and its
maintenance building.
- This comes up quickly!!!
Take the first left (onto
the divided brick street named Coast Cottage Lane).
Your cottage is named Annie Laurie and is on the left side of
the brick street. It is cottage
#12. Have a wonderful time!
- Take I-95 North to Exit #29 near Brunswick, GA
and turn RIGHT at the bottom of the ramp.

and go over the big bridge.
- Continue for another few minutes and bear
right at Torras Causeway.
