ROGERS NOON KIWANIS SERVICE PROGRAMS

1. TERRIFIC KIDS

A. Need - To recognize "Terrific Kids" who made efforts to be responsible citizens and students.

B. Plan - Gather nominations from area grade school teachers, organized, attend, and hand out certificates at formal, whole school, presentation ceremonies.

C. Highlights and Evaluation - A huge success, not only for the students, but also for the teachers.

2. MISTER READER

A. Need - Reading to students improves visual skills, builds vocabulary, and increases reading comprehension.

B. Plan - Set a schedule of having two teams read once per month. (Having it done by Kiwanians helps young students see that we know they are important, and that reading is important. It also allows Kiwanians to see inside the classroom)

C. Highlights and Evaluation - Everyone involved in this project feels it is a huge success.

3. BUDDY PICNIC

A. Need - To recognize students who become a "buddy" and take care of a student with special needs.

B. Plan - Plan a lunch for about 300 students at the park shelter house each May.

C. Highlights and Evaluation - Nearly ten bus loads of grade school age children have a wonderful time. Highlights include live banjo player, and good food.

4. COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

A. Need - To help fund college with 4 scholarships for Rogers High School Graduates.

B. Plan - Have fund raisers to gather the needed $4,000 annually. Plan a golf tournament each May, along with several other fund raisers.

C. Highlights and Evaluation - Another huge success for kids.

5. ANNUAL ARKANSAS CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL GRANT

A. Need - To help raise funds for Arkansas Children's Hospital.

B. Plan - This is a district wide, annual, goal. It is funded through our annual Kiwanis Walk/Run for Kids.

C. Highlights and Evaluation - Helps to maintain Arkansas Children's Hospital as one of the premier children's critical care facilities in the world.

6. SCHOOL BOOKS PURCHASED FOR ROGERS GRADE SCHOOLS

A. Need - Allow teachers to select new books for their students.

B. Plan - Hold various fund raisers, then select a grade school to use the money to purchase the needed books.
