Our
spinal bones can move out of their normal position from injury,
stress or chemical imbalance. This movement out of place is called
Subluxation, or Vertebral Subluxation Complex.
Chiropractic
Doctors are primarily concerned about preventing, detecting, and
reducing your Vertebral Subluxation Complex. Your nervous system,
protected by your skull and spinal column, controls the function
of nearly every system, organ, tissue and cell of your body.
Your
Chiropractic Doctors are concerned about locating and preventing
the Vertebral Subluxation rather than just treating your symptoms.
A thorough examination of your spine will discover areas not functioning
normally. There are five parts to this condition:
Spinal
Kinesiopathology
A restriction of your abilities of bending and turning. This happens
when the bones in the spine loose their normal position and motion.
This condition may lead to one or more of the other four conditions
above.
Neuropathophysiology
If the spine is functioning improperly, it may often irritate, stretch
or choke the delicate nerve tissue. This can cause pain and other
symptoms in other parts of the body.
Myopathology
The spine is supported by a great many muscles. If these muscles
clench tightly in spasm, or weaken, or atrophy, it may result in
scar tissue which changes muscle tone. Repeated spinal adjustments
are often needed until these muscles remain in proper support of
the spinal column.
Histopathology
Lymph and blood supplies can rise in temperature which results in
swelling and inflammation. Discs can experience herniation, tearing,
bulging or degeneration. Sometimes, soft tissues may suffer permanent
damage.
Pathophysiology
Bony growth and bone spurs in malfunctioning spinal joints often
attempt to fuse the joint. This may cause long term nerve dysfunction,
scar tissue and spinal decay resulting in malfunctioning in other
bodily systems.
