TEMPORAL MANDIBLE JOINT

Your Temporal Mandible Joint
can be found by putting your fingers in front of either ear, then wiggle your jaw. You can feel an opening changing shape as you wiggle your jaw. This is your TMJ, the joint where your mandible, or jaw, attaches to the temporal bone of your skull.

Temporal Mandible Joint Syndrome
is the poor alignment of the temporal bone and the mandible. Some of the symptoms are ringing in the ears (tinnitus), nausea and dizziness, severe headache, loss of hearing, tooth, jaw, cheek or even shoulder pain. 30 percent of North Americans suffer from TMJ. It seems to affect women more than men for unknown reasons.

Trauma, poor dental work and poorly fitting braces are among the most common causes of TMJ.

Chiropractic Treatment can often correct the cause of TMJ, and with the exception of serious joint pathology, fracture or tumor causing the problem, Chiropractic treatment should always be engaged in before considering surgery.

Chiropractors and dentists are beginning to work together to develop better jaw-skull-spinal health. Chiropractic needs to be looked into by everyone suffering from TMJ.
