Turbo City's Front Diff. Glider Skid-Plate
By James Hasler
As one of the lowest hanging parts on any rig, the pumpkins are also one of the most important parts to protect. Without gear oil in the diffs, you're not going to get home without melting your housing down to scrap.
Turbo City's Diff Glider's are one way to protect your diffs without losing much ground clearance. They are available for both standard (ZJ, TJ, CJ) and reverse cut (YJ, XJ, MJ) Dana 30 front diffs and standard cut Dana 35 and 44 rear diffs.
The housing itself is fairly strong and dragging a rear diff up and over a rock is not as bad as pushing the front diff over the same obstacle. The reason is that you have a better chance of punching a hole through the front diff cover which is the weakest part. (The same goes for the rear diff if you're backing over an obstacle.)
The Turbo City Diff Glider is made up of powdercoated 1/4" thick steel and sits just below the diff so you only lose about 1/4" of ground clearance. In front, the glider mounts using 4 of the cover bolts using the supplied grade 8 bolts and shims. (The shims are neccessary in order to get the rear to fit snug.)

In the rear, you simply place a clamp over the pinion and snug down the two supplied lock nuts. Wow, I didn't know Rancho made black RS9000's??? :

What you end up with is a very stout skid plate for driving forwards of backwards over obstacles using your front diff as a battering ram. Sounds like a plan to me! Oh, and thanks Andrew!
