Route
66
The Main
Street of America
Route
66, commissioned in 1926, was America's first major highway.
Anyone that traveled Route 66
before it's demise will remember its myriad of road-side attractions, and
the beauty of the land it traversed. There is little remaining of old Route
66, but thanks to Route 66
associations, many of the remaining sections of the highway have been
preserved and restored. The local Route
66 associations have also erected signs designating these sections
as "Historic Route
66."
