Francis Bacon: Of Studies
This is a book discussion group which concentrates on
those few books worthy of being chewed and digested. This San Diego group has been
meeting since 1980 to share insights and answers in discussions of the Great
Ideas. Without being cultic, we try to adhere to the University of Chicago Great
Books Tradition started by Mortimer Adler and
Robert Hutchins. Like Goethe's Faust we have studied industriously, yet may
know no more than we did before. None the less, it is always rewarding to
participate in the continuing Great Conversation. If the Great Ideas interest
you and the opportunity to learn through Shared Inquiry intrigues you,
please join us.
