Bermuda Time
Bermuda is in the ATLANTIC TIME ZONE. This is GMT minus
4 hours (GMT -4 hrs). Eastern time is GMT - 5 hrs. Hence, if GMT is 6 am then it's only 2
am in Bermuda and 1 am on the East Coast of the US. Bermuda observes Daylight Savings Time
from the first weekend in April to the last weekend in October. You may, or may not, see
the 24 hour clock in Bermuda. If so, just remember that it's 5pm somewhere in the world
and that the sun is over the yard arm - So have a drink to celebrate and as far as the
time goes 'Forget-About-It"! Here's a link: http://www.worldtimezone.com/
Bermuda Currency
The Bermuda Dollar is at PAR with the US Dollar.
Hence $1.00 USD = $1.00 BMD
Documents
ENTRY/EXIT REQUIREMENTS : U.S. citizens entering Bermuda must present a
U.S. passport or a certified (Raised Seal) U.S. birth certificate, and photo
identification. The Consulate strongly recommends that visitors travel with a valid
passport at all times. A U.S. driver's license or a voter
registration card is not sufficient for entry into Bermuda. For additional information on entry requirements,
travelers may contact the British Consulate in New York , telephone (212)
745-0273/3206/0281, or the British consulate in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los
Angeles, New York or San Francisco; Internet: http://www.britain-info.org or the Bermuda Department of Immigration ; http://www.immigration.gov.bm
To Obtain a US Passport, click this link - http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html. In my opinion, get one. You will need one eventually for all foreign travel.
Insurance InformationI
"If an American citizen becomes seriously ill or
injured abroad, a U. S. consular officer can assist in locating appropriate medical
services and informing family or friends. If necessary, a consular officer can also assist
in the transfer of funds from the United States. However, payment of hospital and other
expenses is the responsibility of the traveler." Look into obtaining travel
insurance. OK, so if you have to cut the crusie short, or miss it altogether, you're out a
couple of thousand - That's a dent in the wallet. IF you have to have a Medivac flight to
the states, then that's $20 - $25 thousand. I can't recommend what vendor to use, but here
are a couple of links:
