Pictures from
Milton Mad Mac Magart

These were taken in 1955, I believe prior to Re-Fit in Mare Island in June.
The film was taken by Milton's Stepfather, who was a supervisor for
Kaiser Aluminum in Seattle Washington.
The location is Charr Inlet,(Fitting No?)that lies West of Tacoma and between the Islands of
Fox, and Anderson to the West and Lakewood to the East.
USS Charr was on a "Good Will" tour and took aboard VIP's for a taste of
Submariners Life.

VIP's Coming Aboard

No mistaking Elmer Horst, standing by the sonar head.

Droping the bubble, rigging for Dive.

She sure be a pretty thing ... eh?

No Crash Dive just nice and easy, for the guests.

Now she looks as though theres a 5° down bubble.

And down a little further

Just the scope wake now.

OK ... That was fun. Wonder if they drew a little suction, for the guests.

What a gorgeous sight, with Mt Rainier in background, to the right and Mt Baker to left.

I'll tell you what. No matter what anyone says, Smoke Boats are the greatest
