Once upon a time, a doe rabbit named Elderbunny was gathering herbs for her mother when she was overtaken by a storm. As she took shelter in a hollow oak tree, the storm raged overhead and night began to fall. Unfortunately, Elder had not brought a light with her and was in grave danger of being eaten by a Grue. (What you need to know about Grues. Use your 'Back' button to return..) However, being a good bunny and an obedient daughter, Elder had dutifully memorized her mother's teaching: "When in the Dire Forest, Always work Near a Fairy Ring. Do not Stray! If you find yourself in Danger Go to the Center of the Ring. Nothing Evil can come into a Fairy Ring!" As if by magic, just as these words entered her mind, the rain stopped. Elder came out from the tree and encountered a young Fairy lad lying in the wet ferns. He was soaked to the skin, shivering, and crying for his mother. Elder dragged him into the nearby Fairy Ring just as the sun set. She cuddled the boy to her, wrapping him in thick bunnyfur until he was warm and dry. She sang rabbit lullabies and told him bunny stories to quiet his tears. Finally, as the full moon began to rise, they snuggled against each other and fell into a deep sleep. The following morning, Queen Titania's court and a group of Elder's kinfolk formed a search party and found the sleeping youngsters. The fairy child Elder had saved was Dandelion, the Queen's only son. Titania herself came to reward the doe. To the amazement of the rabbits, Elder was crowned with the Butterfly Crown of Magical Royalty. Queen Titania proclaimed: "Henceforth Elder is Queen of Rabbits, Fairy Friend." Thus, Elderbunny became Queen Elder, our first queen, and the lands around the Fairy Ring of Dandelion became Rabbitlandia.
