OEM Fog Lights

I suggested to my wife that I'd like the fog lights for my birthday (24 August 2005) and she gave me the go ahead!  So here we go...I found the cheapest price at www.1sthondaparts.com for the fog lights and switch which costs  $237.95 + $10.43 S&H.  The second thing I did was call my local Honda dealership and asked if they had the parts in stock.  The parts guy said he had a set in stock and that it would cost me $332 for the fog lights and $25 for the switch--a grand total of $357 (not including tax)!  I asked if he would match internet prices in which he said to bring in proof.  I printed out the necessary online documentation to include the shipping costs and presented it to him.  The first thing he said was, "I should've mentioned that I need the shipping price...".  I didn't let him finish because I'd already knew he'd ask for shipping so I pointed it out on the printout.  Then he asked if this was a dealership and I replied "...does it matter? It's OEM parts.", hoping that it really didn't matter.  He then tried to back-peddle and say "If this price is lower than the dealership price, I can't give it to you...I won't make any money".  I watched his computer monitor as he switched to the dealership price and then I noticed $214, which was $118 less than MSRP!!  He said that I'd have to pay the tax...blah, blah, blah.  I said no problem, I'll pay with cash.  To make this short, I paid $265.77 for the fog lights and saved almost $100.00!  I'm was quite happy to walk out of the service department with my box-o-parts, and back to the house I go to install them on my Ridgeline.  The photos on the top row are pre-fog light install shots and the bottom are post-install.

It took me 4 hours to install the fog lights since I made a bonehead mistake with the relay box by putting the fog light harness wires into the wrong connector hole as a fellow R.O.C. member did (Lingered_I).  It took an additional 30 minutes to figure out how to get them out of the wrong hole without causing any damage, and all that darn grease didn't make it any easier!!  Anyhow, it's all good and my new ride is sporting the new fog lights!  Thanks again Lingered_I for posting your install story.  I wish I'd only paid attention to detail with the relay box :)

Here's a photo after I installed the SilverStar and Xenon Super Whites.  Even though the first photo (far above) was taken in the daylight, you can compare it with the immediate photo above and see the difference in color.  More details of the bulb replacements are below.

Sylvania SilverStar Replacement Bulbs -

I just replaced my OEM bulbs with SilverStar 9003 ST/2 bulbs on 25 September, 2005.  I purchased them from Advance Auto Parts for $36.88 and it took less than 10 minutes to install.  It's a definite improvement to the OEM bulbs--much whiter and brighter!  I haven't upgraded the fog light bulbs as of yet, but I'm sure they will be next.

Xenon Super White Quartz H11 Bulbs
-

I purchased this set of H11 bulbs from e-Bay on 9 October 2005, for a whopping $22.99 (includes S&H).  These replaced my OEM fog light bulbs and should eliminate the yellowish color beam and match my SilverStars.  Installation only took about 15 minutes.

Sylvania SilverStar Signal Lights -

I purchased a set of Sylvania SilverStar Signal Lights from Advance Auto Parts for $19.99 on 14 April 2006.  The 3457A lights are dual filament for both signal and parking lights--iridescent when off, amber when on.
