iPod

The new 5G iPod with video is a gadget I recently showed interest in purchasing for myself and my wife decided to surprise me with one for Christmas (actually a Radio Shack gift card).  She made every attempt to get a hold of one during the shopping season but they were all sold out.  I finally picked one up about a week after Christmas and haven't let go of it since :)

So far I've picked up several accessories for this little toy to include the following: Bose SoundDock Digital Music System, Universal Dock, iPod In-Ear Headphones, DLO Action Jacket, Pacific Design Flip Case (Mocha Brown Leather), Griffin EarJams, and DLO TransPod.

The DLO TransPod was my latest addition so that I could mount my iPod in my Ridgeline.  It has a built-in FM transmitter with a frequency range of 88.1~107.9? MHz.  The LED screen has a Blue backlight which can be turned on/off with a button on the left side.  You can preset 4 channels into this system by pressing a button on the right side.  There are 2 mini RCA jacks to connect the output audio from the iPod to your radio or to another media device.  The TransPod also comes with an iPod Mini adapter and Nano adapter but since I have neither, an adhesive pad fills the gap between the back of my iPod and the TransPod.  Also included is a 12V socket adapter with an extension.

I trimmed a couple of audio cables to the appropriate length and soldered them together.  Since I already have an adapter to use the AUX/FM from my radio, I connected it directly to the TransPod, then to my SIRIUS receiver.  Now both the iPod and SIRIUS can play at the same time.  I just need to mute/turn-off the SIRIUS receiver whenever I want to use my iPod.  The only issue I have is when the mini-RCA cable is connected from the TransPod to my SIRIUS receiver, I get some alternator whine.  I already have a GLI installed between my receiver head unit and the TransPod and it sounds like I'll need another in between the TransPod and my SIRIUS receiver.
