Generation No. 1

1. MERRY1 WEBB (Source: Richard Hall 7/2/99, (David & Samuel Descendants), "Electronic," Aug 20, 1998.) was born Abt. 1659 in England (Source: Richard Hall (JRH20@aol.com), Richard Hall, (5/9/1999), "Electronic."). He married ANNA (Source: Richard Hall (JRH20@aol.com), Richard Hall, (5/9/1999), "Electronic."). She was born Abt. 1660.

Notes for MERRY WEBB: I am descended from Martin Martin through his daughter, Elizabeth Martin, who married Merry Webb and then through therir daughter, Millian Webb, who married Samuel Hall. There has been some confusion about whether Elizabeth (Martin) Webb and Anne (or Anna) Webb are the same person. Actually, Elizabeth was Merry Webb's (born in 1697) wife while Anne was the wife of Merry's father who was also named Merry. The older Merry Webb was born 1659 in England. Anne is listed in some VA land records.

Notes for MERRY WENN WEBB:

I'm unsure of where the "Wenn" came from. This may be wrong.

In 1777, Samuel Hall and Merry Webb were among the signers in Henry County, Virginia, renouncing allegiance to Great Britain and swearing allegiance to the Commonwealth of Virginia. This would appear to indicate that both were of English origin. Samuel Hall and his family moved from Henry County, Virginia, to Wilkes County, North Carolina, some time shortly after the Revolutionary War began. Samuel was granted 100 acres on Elk Creek in Wilkes County, North Carolina, as recorded in Deed Book A, 1778 - 1783, pages 4,61 and 4,62.

On 8 Sep 1778, Samuel Hall and wife Milian of Henry Co, sold to Philip Ryan of same, for 200 pounds, 162a on south side of Smith River. Wit: Daniel Reamee, John Alexander Jr., Joseph Goodwin. (Henry Co. Deed Book I:198-199).
