Well more progress made with my Linux install:
First, My PDA syncs without a hitch. I was on the floor with shock. I have never NOT had to tinker with the setup to get it working. This time it worked "out of the box".
Second, Java and the java machine went in without a hitch either. I am beginning to wonder if this is actually MY computer I am using. :)
I also got my Flash-plugin working in Firefox. Lesson learned, don't tried to install both at the same time during install. LOL.

Debian -- The Universal Operating SystemYah ha ha ha! I did it! Since replacing my computer's motherboard, I have been having trouble getting a full, working install of Linux. Well, after a little more research and experimentation, I was able to get Debian Linux to install with the 2.6.6 Kernel (Ooooooo!) and nVidia's latest video drivers (Yes!). All the important stuff works great. I have not tried to sync the Clie, but since that has always been a problem, I am not too concerned about that.
Not that I have conquored the install, I will be writing up an installer's guide for you folks who want a step-by-step procedure to "embrace the penguin".

Don't like my driving? Then quit watching me.
Well, this year I went to my first Anthrocon. Actually, it would be more accurate to say that I BARELY went to Anthrocon. You see, I drove up to Philly (from Newport News, VA) on Saturday. It was a late start (10am) due to getting the family ready and loaded into the car. Piss poor trip planning on my part had us go up I-64 to I-95, and up I-95 to Philly. Seven hours (for a supposedly 5 hour trip) and 6 major traffic jams later, we arrive at our hotel (across town from Anthrocon) around 5:30pm. Check-in and supper out of the way, we head over to Anthrocon arriving at the Adams Mark Hotel around 7:20pm. The Masqerade was already in progress (and the room was pretty full) so we just walked around looking at the different rooms. Twenty minutes later I learned why not to bring your wife, mother-in-law, and two children to Anthrocon on your first trip. Everyone was bored and tired. So off to our Hotel we went. At this point I was pretty much ready to give up on the Con as a bad lesson learned, however my wife and my friend Hiromi talked me into going back around 10pm to see some more and do some socialing.
I am glad I went back. I got a better idea of what the con is like and so did my spouse. We are planning to be there again next year. However we will be staying more than one night, and our trip will be much better planned as well.

Why am I the only person on earth who knows how to drive?
