From Bill Fitzgibbon, League Coordinator

2006 Adult League Captain’s Cliff’s Notes

No one likes surprises; so hopefully identifying these Rules prior to the season will be helpful:

The Roanoke schedule of 6:00 and 7:45 pm matches does not allow a “wait and see” weather policy.  The Adult league policy is - if you cannot play at the appointed time, cancel and reschedule.

It is not required for all players to “check in” at the match site to cancel – the captains are empowered to agree to cancel in advance (and notify ALL players) if the weather so dictates. Teams are likewise expected to be ready to play at assigned match time if courts are playable.

The Adult League has an Automatic Rescheduling policy – ‘Early’ Monday/Tuesday rained out matches are played at 1:00pm the following Saturday, and ‘early’ Wednesday/Thursday rained out matches are played at 1:30 the following Sunday.  ‘Late’ Monday/Tuesday rained out matches are played at 2:45 the following Saturday, and ‘late’ Wednesday/Thursday rained out matches are played at 3:15 pm the following Sunday.

Please confirm rescheduled matches with the League Coordinator, to ensure Hollins court availability.

Captains may agree to play a weekend makeup match at a different time with approval of the League Coordinator.

·         SUSPENDING A MATCH:

If rain starts after a match has begun,  the match should immediately be stopped, scores on all courts recorded by captains, and rescheduled.   You will "restart" play in the rescheduled match at exactly the score recorded by captains, when the original match was stopped.

A level of 4 or more teams allows 2 players from same team to play together at another level.  A level of 3 or less allows 3 players from same team to play together at another level.

EXAMPLE 1:  You wish to play Men’s 3.5 & 4.0.  You are registered on a 3.5 team – there are three Men’s 3.5 teams this year – 3 players registered on the same 3.5 team may play together at 4.0.

EXAMPLE 2:  You wish to play Men’s 3.5 & 4.0.  You are registered on a 4.0 team – there are four Men’s 4.0 teams this year – 2 players registered on the same 4.0 team may play together at 3.5.

·        Good luck this season!
