Mission Statement
The Roanoke Valley Tennis Association works in a collaborative effort with all the
local tennis organizations, to promote, fund, support and sponsor both junior and adult
recreational and competitive tennis programs for Roanoke Valley citizens.
Programs
The Roanoke Valley Tennis Association and the affiliate tennis organizations have
set the following organizational objectives:
1. To promote tennis activity and programming that will aid in
recruiting and retaining players at all levels of ability and age.
2.To conduct fund raising efforts designed to make tennis
activities more accessible to existing players and to prospective players, particularly
our youth.
3. To plan, direct and implement RVTA sponsored tournaments and to
provide staff support and assistance for other locally-held tournaments.
The combined efforts of RVTA and its board of directors has given
them strength in their most valued resource --volunteers, and enabled them to link
programs throughout the community.
Membership
The RVTA requests moderate donations for membership. These help support community service
projects. In addition, donations are often given to affiliate
organizations to provide scholarships and special grant funding to tennis
players and programs.
We were granted 501© 3 status on feb 22, 2002.( EIN 54-6052729). This enables the
RVTA to seek out more grants and donations to assist in its support.
Members usually join with the intention of putting something back into the
sport they have enjoyed for many years.
