This is my story of Alien Mountain
Named by Ron and Dick
Alien mountain appears to have a pictograph on the face of it,
depending on the time of day and the lighting, you can see what appears to be a "et type of alien". My friend Ron and I discovered it after taking pictures from Coon Hollow camp ground on Wiley's Well Rd. We have been there many times, it is usually where we stay when going to the Hauser Geode beds. There are many rockhound spots in this area just to name a few, potato patch, pebble terrace, opal hill mine, black agate hills. You can travel the old butterfirld stage route from Wiley's Well rd. to the Salten Sea Along this trail there is the Chuckwalla well, Chuckwalla Spring and the Graham Pass road. It is approximately a 75 mile trip on a fairly good desert road, there are some areas of soft sand, but nothing a two wheel drive can not get through. Ron and I had our first opportunity to look at the alien mt from many different locations and angles on our trip 9/20/00. Man was it ever hot that trip 100 deg plus for three days, we had to leave it was so hot, so we went closer to Borrego springs, it actually cooled off by at least 10 deg. Anyway that was the trip that we really started to understand the lay of the land and found some of the other geode diggings We found that we could see the Alien Mt from most everywhere so it became our main point of reference for finding our campsite, along with the GPS. We have marked all the sites where we have found some nice rock, gps, that is. So check out the links below for the photos of this area.
