Adventures in the World of Darkness

Surprisingly enough, I have been exposed to the White Wolf game systems quite a bit over the years. This chronicles my experiences and exposure to it.

  • Fall, 1995 - My eldest brother goes to college and begins to play Vampire: the Masquerade. My other brother tells me about a new card game called Vampire: the Eternal Struggle, saying that its a game like Magic: the Gathering, but with vampires.
  • Summer, 1998 - I read parts of the 'Dark Colony' sourcebook for Vampire: the Masquerade, owned by my college going brother. At this time, the game seems like a Superheroes with fangs sort of game.
  • Spring, 2000 - My brother is lurking the net when he finds the Vampire: the Masquearde Redemption beta testing website. While he was not able to join it, he did download and show me the trailer.
  • Winter, 2001 - I purchase Vampire: the Masquerade Redemption. As I play the game, I am greatly intrigued by the underlying plot, which embodies the role playing game.
  • Summer, 2001 - I stumble onto many of the White Wolf rulebooks in the local bookstore. While I enjoy flipping through them, I do not purchase them due to monetary concerns.
  • Spring, 2002 - I watch blade for the first time. After viewing it, my brother and I have a discussion which leads us to the World of Darkness. He speaks of a few other game lines, such as Hunter: the Reckoning, which respark my interest in the game setting.
  • Spring, 2004 - I replay and finally beat Vampire: the Masquerade Redemption. My brother tells me about the end of the World of Darkness. I begin to recommend many of the political concepts from the game setting in the Insiider roleplaying game.
  • Summer, 2004 - I was lurking a Games Workshop related website when I found a link to an archive of the Michelle Chronicles. After showing this two a few friends, we decide to begin playing Vampire: the Masquerade. We play one session at the end of the summer, but cannot continue because of school and sports conflicts.
  • Fall, 2004 (So far) - I purchase Hunter: the Reckoning and join www.hunter-net.org.uk. My collection of OWoD books has reached seven. I also begin to storytell in the New World of Darkness, though I do not like the systems used in it.
