I served with India Company under the command of President Johnson's son in law Capt. C.S. Robb, also Capt. J.G. McDonough, Capt. J.K. Hall, 1st.Lt. R.W. Ramage, and Capt. P.W. Miles.
I was with the second platoon first squad as radio operator for my whole tour. We spent most of our time on patrol's around areas know as Hill 37, 52, 55, 65, and 22. India Company participated in operations know as SUSSEX BAY, MAMELUKE THRUST, OKLAHOMA HILLS.
While operating off of Hill 65 India Company was responsible for providing security for AM road sweeps to Hill 52. During these road sweeps they didn't go with out incidents. Returning from the road sweep we were all riding on top of the leading Amtrak. The Amtrak exploded under us. On 08 August 1968 second platoon suffered 29 WIA and 2nd.LT. Terrell W. Hale was KIA .
A special tribute and thanks to all the commendable pilots for the close up air support. And the admirable pilots in the Med-evac choppers. What a terriffic job you did putting your lives on the line for us Marines on the ground. You saved our buts more than a couple of times.
