Dry-Mouth Saints

Saints drool, there's no way around it. Some drool more, some less.

Saints with "looser" lips drool more than Saints with a "tighter" mouth.

In an attempt to create a "dry mouth" Saint Bernard, people are breeding dogs with longer muzzles, making the lips less pendulant and decreasing the drool...

The Breed Standard calls for the muzzle to be deeper than it is long, so the so-called "dry mouthed" Saints often do not conform to this standard and lose head type, tending to look more like a spaniel,
retriever, or collie. If you are destined to have a Saint Bernard in your life, drool rags and bibs will become second nature.
You just haven't lived until you've been slimed by a Saint!
