The Society for Creative Anachronism

The SCA now has a web site of its own. This site includes a very nice introduction to the SCA.

My Society name is Bleyddyn ap Rhys ap Gwydion ap Emrys y Gwynedd. my Lady, Siobhan Chantoiseaux du Long Pont Sur Orge, and I spent a year and a half in the Province of Malagentia (located in Maine) but have been back in the Barony of Calafia for several years.

I started out with the College of St. Artemas (UCSD), in Calafia. My first event was the College of St. Artemas Anniversay Tournament in April of 1991 (AS 25?). I later served the College as Lieutenant of Archers for a year. I then served a year as Captain of Archers for the Barony.

I have been awarded arms and have been admitted to the Order of the Golden Trident (a Calafian service award).

My Arms

  • Per Chevron Azure and Argent
  • two Wolf's Heads erased Argent
  • and a Drakhar Sable

(Sorry, but this isn't my most finished picture.
I hope to get the most recent one uploaded soon...)

As you can probably guess from the offices I held, I am very interested in archery, I will be devoting one or more pages to that... I now have a very rough draft, which I know contains some errors, so read at your own risk: Archery in Period and in the SCA.

I have a small list of images taken at Estrella War 1998.

More to come...

For people in the San Diego area who would like to get in touch with the SCA I recommend going to one of our fighter practices. The Baronial practice is held on Sunday afternoons (generally starts about 1pm) and on Wednesday evenings. Both practices are held at the Allied Gardens Recreation Center. Take I8 to Waring road. Go through three street lights then take your next left (no light). Go through one stop sign and you will see the parking lot.

There is also a practice held at SDSU on Friday afternoons (4pm?) but I am not sure exactly where that is held. You can probably just listen for the sounds of swords hitting shields :)
