This isn't a story, as such, but more of a transcript of a short gaming session with a friend of mine. It was a Champions (comic book hero role playing) game, and Sig Sauer was my character. He is partially paralyzed and has mental powers (picture a young version of the Doctor from X-Men). We only played a few times, but I really enjoyed it. Lot's of 'Role Playing' and very little 'Roll Playing'.

"Sig Sauer" gets a call from a hysterical woman that her cat is possessed by the devil. He grabs his bag and drives to the address she gave him. Jake knocks on the door and is let in by an older woman who looks pale and frightened. She tells him that the cat occaisionally disappears and sometimes attacks her mind. Jake gets a can of cat food, opens it and starts calling the cat. After exploring the cat's mind for a few minutes he decides that the cat is inexplicably possessed of very low level psychic abilities. It can apparently teleport and it scratches at his mind, much like a playful kitten will scratch or bite a persons fingers.

"I'm going to have to take your cat to my lab for a little while, ma'am. Is that all right with you?"

"Yes, please take it!" is the near-hysterical answer.

"Here, kitty, kitty" Jake called, mentally as well as physically. A "meow" began from somewhere behind the couch but it ended in Jake's lap as the young cat suddenly appeared there. Jake started petting the cat, talking to it as he wheeled himself back to his van.

"I'll get back to you as soon as I learn anything important, Mrs. XXXX." He called on his way out.

He drove back to his lab and introduced "Andrew/Kitty", now called pixel, to his research advisor. He called Mrs. XXXX's son (who lives in Philadelphia and owns the cat's mother). The mother cat showed no signs of any abnormal behavior. Probably not due to genetic factors.

Later this evening he meets with Nicholas Talos and one of his students, Michael McKenan. He reschedules the meeting for early the next morning. That night, at about 3am he gets a call. There are threats and demands for return of the "stuff, cat and woman." Jake was very sleepy and most of this was a blur.

They return and explain that Mike has precognition. Sig tells them to go to his lab and ask Dr. Cannon to run him through the standard psyche tests. As they leave Jake tries to read Talos' mind. Talos returns and says "Please stay out of my mind."

A little later, two thugs (Michaelson and Dude) came and demanded the "stuff" or the cat. He tries to lie and mind control them. He fails for lack of a useful idea for the mind control. He does however learn that their boss is XXXX head of Viper, and they are searching for a woman called Magdeline Dar. He finally consents to take them to his lab. Tries various mental shenanigans en route but none of them succeed.

Michael McKenan is in the lab when they arrive. Sig telepathically asks for Mike's help. He then ego blasts Michaelson while Mike takes out Dude with a beautiful kick.

The police come and take away the thugs. Talos arrives and admits to knowing about M. Dar. He also chews out Mike for attacking someone with only my say-so. He says Magdeline is a martial-arts type. Michaelson's boss is a drug lord.

Talos and Mike leave. Sig returns to Mrs. XXXX and questions her about what happened on Saturday and if she knew about M. Dar. She didn't have any answers.

Jake decides to take out an add in the NY Times. "Magdeline, call me about the cat". He also took a sample of pixel's blood and sent it to the lab - results in 2 weeks. He also calls information and gets a number for M. Dar but he decides not to call it, yet.
