Lady With A Big Gun
Quietly she now sits,
After years of a celebrated existence.
This regal lady and her awesome silhouette,
Made her a suitor to many young men.
To them she called,
With her tales of irresistible adventure.
To her they hesitantly came,
Seeking new worlds and new thrills.
It took hard work to meet her needs,
But she was a just taskmaster.
Her rewards were fair and plentiful.
She was good to each of them.
She gave every one complete care
And time to explore those new lands.
But should trouble arise, she was ready.
She had an imposingly big gun.
Many times they traveled the world together,
But today the USS Hull has a new role.
Gone is her gun and also her suitors,
As she sits in the fathoms, a hotel for fish.
She's at home where she belongs,
Where all brave ships should go to die,
In the sea where she once patrolled,
Alive, majestic, and free.
She, that siren of excitement and beauty,
Still lives on in the hearts of her crew,
Those that experienced the intimacy,
Of the lady with the big gun.
