The activities described in 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4 are prohibited;
Flying over the pits, parking area, spectators, and the access road for the length of the runway.
High speed flying down the runway.
Flying over, or "buzzing" trespassers.
Wearing and/or using cellular telephones or personal two-way communication devices while flying.
Helicopters:
Only experienced helicopter pilots may fly from the runway as described in 3.3.
Beginning and intermediate helicopter pilots must take-off, land, and hover in the dirt area Southeast of the runway and pit area, or away from other members and guests.
Helicopter take-offs, landings, and hovers, must be performed North of the runway centerline.
Helicopter pilots must yield the runway for fixed-wing aircraft take-offs and landings.
When starting or running up engines in the pits, the aircraft must be pointed either away from or toward the runway. The aircraft shall not be pointed, or angled toward adjacent pit stalls.
Mufflers are mandatory on all engines.
To ensure the proficiency/safety of a new member or guest, a club instructor or a club officer shall closely observe the first flight of a new member, or guest. In the event a club officer or instructor are not present, a veteran club member must observe the new flyer.
East to West take-off runs with tricycle gear aircraft shall not begin prior to the solid white line (out from the center of the pits) across the runway. Tail dragger aircraft will start from the broken white line (line West of the pit area line) across the runway. When the winds reverse, take-off runs will be as required, and all pilots and spectators should exercise greater caution. Pilots flying aircraft that require more distance for take-off than the lines allow must obtain the permission of ALL flyers present.
No "breaking in" of engines in the pit areas during flying sessions.
Before a transmitter is turned on, the correct channel number clothespin must be placed on the corresponding number on the frequency control board. Every member and flying guest is required to have his/her clothespin with the owners name and transmitter channel number prominently displayed.
Only wood, carbon fiber or fiberglass filled propellers are permitted.
Fliers must stand in the dirt between the runway and pit area when flying, no closer to the runway than 50% of the distance between the runway and the pit area.
Field cleanup is the responsibility of every member of the club. During field cleanup, all flying will be suspended and all members present will be expected to assist until said cleanup is completed.
All transmitters used at the Drones Field must display the corresponding channel identification plaque attached to the antennae as described in the AMA Membership Manual. And all transmitters used at the Drones flying field shall be "Narrow Banded" and shall conform to the "AMA Radio Control Utilization Plan".
Rules 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.1, and 3.2 are subjective in nature and infractions can only be judged by the observing member. Infractions should be reported on the standard San Diego Drones complaint form. The complaint will be handled as dictated by the by-laws Article XIII Field Safety Sections 1 and 2. Suspected infractions may be reported verbally to any club officer for informal disposition.
