M and M

Major lived with us for three years.  He was born April 20, 1997. He was a purebred Pomeranian and good as gold. He loved people very much. He was also a great watchdog; no one ever crossed our street without us knowing it.

Major died of heat stroke. We didn't realize that small dogs, especially those with lots of hair like Major had, can quickly become overheated in humid, hot weather - think Louisiana. Though he had been out many times in the past, there was shade and water nearby, and he was out less than an hour, the heat was too much for Major. The vet did everything she could, but couldn't save him. (Mollie was out the same amount of time and had no effects at all.) If you have a small pet and live in a hot climate, please take every precaution so you will not lose your pet as we did. We miss him very much.
