Ramona Trails
For the promotion of Trails, Parks, Preserves and sidewalks for the public good and safety. We donate
time and resources to promote trails, public access, sidewalks and pedestrian, equestrian and bicycle safety.
We work to preserve the panoramic views of the area before they disappear in the glut of housing sure to come.
We encourage moderate growth and preservation of lands with access for hiking and riding where possible.
We recently helped finish the Master Road Plan for Ramona. Recommendations covered road easements and road
improvements for the future to allow for safe and adequate road circulation in the community. The plan also covers bike
paths on road ways and the priority network to make nearer term major improvements for bicycle circulation and access..
How can you help us? Contact San Diego County Parks department and
County Supervisor Dianne Jacob and let them know we all want this work completed.
Volunteer to help!
See how you can help RTA or the Transportation & Trails Subcommittee are a good start.
It's important to have more voices when we meet with the county and state representatives regarding important local
issues. We are working with the Parks department for more public to help with trail work, preservation and protection.

Latest Update
Jan 25th was a beautiful, warm Saturday morning with not a cloud in the sky. We gathered to plant oak trees
in Simon Park with Parks department Officer Patty Heyden, local Scout Pack 630 led by Dawn Perfect,
Joe Cahak, Parks Officer Nick, and several other parents. We all sweated and toiled to plant and water them.
Patty worked the permissions within Parks department. She also got watering agreements using the drip system
in the park now for watering Ryland developments mitigation in Simon Park. Officers Patty and Nick also
determined the planting spots and got the holes dug. Hurray Patty!
Joe brought his 30 oak saplings, water, tools and tenacity to get things done. This was a groundbreaking
effort for Parks as yours truly pushed the envelope a bit to get parks to accept mitigation for the future trail
the ("proposed" San Vicente Memorial Trail).
Parks has not yet finished the biological studies etc. and they were not used to working in this manner.
Ok Ok, so I pushed the envelope. Guilty as charged! We all got to do something Today and not next year.
Thanks to Dawn Perfect and all of Scout Pack 630 for volunteering.
Special Thanks!
to Patty Heyden of County Parks and County Parks management for putting up with me and allowing
this effort. As mentioned above Patty went above and beyond to help me make this happen.
Thank You Patty and Parks!
Thank You Parks for adapting and working with us.
We can make it happen and make the future now!

Ramona St Sidewalk Dedication - Oct 2002
Pat Uriell, Bob Haley, Pete Schiff, Dianne Jacob, Dawn Prefect, Brenda Foreman and others at the
Ramona Street sidewalk project groundbreaking Nov 2002.
Oh Ya Pat's daughter Alana and a friend provided the cheerleading
Thanks Dianne for helping get Dawn's request approved. What an improvement for our kids.
Congratulation on your success Dawn!
Pine Street trail dedication
Thanks to Pat Uriell for ALL his very hard work.
Yours truly contributed several long weekends helping Pat on this,
as did many members of RTA and the community.
This was a major trail gain for Ramona and a real success for us!
Congratulations Pat!
Problem Areas
One of our problem areas on Archie Moore Rd. This was a dedicated county pathway for horses and
pedestrians. Now they get to suffer with traffic, thanks to SDG&E thoughtless concern for public safety.
This topic is this persons pet peeve. He is actively working to get the county to take control for placement
from SDG&E in the public road right-a-ways. This one measured in at 15" from the travel way and has
been deemed as unsafe placement by the county DPW. They have demanded the relocation by SDG&E.
It pays to complain....

Latest update:
DPW's Ken Brazell has ordered SDG&E to move it ASAP.
Yea Ken!
Further, Dianne Jacob's office (county supervisor) has taken my request to the SD county council
and we may very soon have a county ordinance forcing utilities to get approvals for utility placement in the
right of ways. I am thrilled to see this moving forward, as I have been working this problem for two years.
I am very thrilled to see Dianne take the lead on the important public safety item. What a supervisor!
Rumor is that it may go to the Board of Supervisors as early as February 2003. Wow!
This WAS our new county pathway...
Special Recognition
Dianne Jacob our county supervisor
Dianne Jacob has championed many significant gains in the community for us.
With her help we've gained:
Trail Indemnification of property owners who dedicate trail access
San Vicente Safety Road improvements that this person pushed for
Pine Street Trail
A Community Master Road plan for the future circulation road and bike needs
Barnett Preserve
Ramona Street Sidewalk
Opposition to the Ramona International Airport
Highway 67 widening support
and the list goes on and on....
This person has been given the rare and treasured opportunity to work with this woman on many instances.
She took my challenge to county officials for a "Road Tour" and immediately followed up scheduling one and
giving Pat Uriell and I the chance to show how bad the local major and support road arteries had become.
With Dianne's support she also took this person's request to perform emergency road safety improvements.
Thanks Dianne we appreciate your help and support!
Special Support Recognition to the Department of Public Works
This person would like to also take the opportunity to express recognition for services rendered and the really
professional and responsive support from Director John Snyder and his really outstanding team:
Larry Watt Deputy Director, Ken Brazell, Tom Perry and many..many others.
They have truly done and outstanding job doing all they can for Ramona as they can gets funds and
priority. They took a "tiger team" approach to San Vicente Road repairs at this person request.
I took my own independent set of pictures and analysis and it was amazing to see them
take my pictures and study and integrate it into there study in a non-ego manner and come up with
a much better report from which the road improvements to the shoulders were performed.
We say "we have trees to gift for future mitigation for road safety and pathway improvements" and
DPW says "How Many. When can we get them. How can we work with you."
What a team!
