Come and Get It...
Ross News
4.2.2007
Taxes are sent off, the flowers are blooming,
and our noses are all running...must be Spring!
We just got back home from a trip to my
Grandparents house in Arkansas. Addie did
great on her first car trip, and we all had a
wonderful time visiting with our family. Got home
in time to watch the Cards lose. Uh-oh.

There are a TON of pictures to look through
this time. Enjoy. Also, I finally have the guestbook
up and running again, so let us hear from you!

Happy Easter!

3.18.07
Another crazy month in the Ross house. We had
a visit from the ebola virus--all family members
falling victim to it's horrors...except for mom!  (Unless you
count the horror of cleaning up)

Addie is almost three months now. She is starting
to smile at all of us, but mostly at ceiling fans and
black sconces on the wall. She is crying less, colic seems
to be letting up.

Jack is talking about everything these days.
He asked me the other day if Addie's crying
was "freaking [me] out." He knows the words
to every song  he hears. My favorite is the
Cambell's soup jingle, "Possibilities,"  or
the techno song played at the OSU bball
games.

I am counting down to the start of baseball season..
We are excited to squeeze in a Cards/Dodgers
game in LA when we go out to visit John in May.
It has been fun planning this trip with Jack because
he keeps adding new destinations, like "Sea World in
San Diego where the sharks eat scuba divers." For the
life of me I can't figure out what combination of
TV channels he has been watching to come up with this,
maybe Discovery & the Travel channels?

Anyway, good health has finally returned to us
just in time to enjoy a beautiful March.

I can't believe our little red head is almost
two months old already! She's doing great and
getting big. Jackson is keeping us entertained as
always with his quirky little self. His current
interests are Power Rangers, Star Wars, airplanes
cooking, and Cinderella. A true Renaissance Man.

Last Sunday during church Jackson announced that
he had to go to the restroom. As he was washing
his hands he told me, "Mom, I'm ready to go
back to God, now."  I wish I could just keep him
right here at this age...

She's here! Adelaide Gayle arrived on December
28 (my dad's birthday) to the surprise and joy of
all of her family. We're home now and doing very
well. Click here to see the first of many new pictures.

Phew! It's been busy around here. We celebrated
Jackson's birthday on the 22nd, and then immediately
began our marathon Christmas celebrations!  Our
pending arrival had to have a little say in the holiday
scheduling as well, and I spent a couple hours at the
hospital (six at home) enjoying a "false alarm."  It's
always something around here! It was a fun Christmas
and we are so happy to have been able to share it
with our families.

Happy New Year's to you!

11.19.06
We have been busy enjoying all kinds of activities
and preparations at the Ross house. Jackson's
favorite of course has been going to the OSU
football games. He doesn't really seem to have a
favorite team...and talks constantly about "momma's
team" (TU), "papa's team" (OU), and "daddy's
team" (OSU). David announced today that he
was pretty sure that Jack was going to be an
OSU fan, and something inside me tells me he
is right.

The nursery remodel is underway and hopefully
will be finished in time! You can check out our
progress on the New Pictures page. David
has done most of the work...I'm the paint drip
supervisor, ex: "there's a drip over here..."
Jackson has also provided some "help." It
is amazing David has been able to get anything
accomplished.

8.30.06
The last few days of August have brought
some long awaited cool days to T-town. Last
night we hopped on our bikes and rode to
Jackson Park for the first time since June...we
almost were chilly on the ride back!

Today we visited a friend who lives way out
in the country. Jackson had so much fun there
that when it was time to go, he told me: "I like
this house, mom!" When I told him that
we had to go back to mom & daddy's house
he tearfully declared: "but, I don't like your house!!!"
My little country boy...hmm, Denise, I wonder
where he gets that?

Everything is going great with Baby Ross #2.
We are so thankful! I'm feeling great...finally!
I have discovered attending yoga classes &
monthly massages make me feel even better!
Thanks, David! (& Patrick) :) Sex and therefore,
name, still unknown. We'll keep you posted.

4.26.2006
We have somehow manufactured a little son
who is obsessed with sports (hmm...), baseball,
soccer, football, & basketball. My house looks
like an athletic complex these days. Today
Jackson asked me to watch "baseball" (meaning
the Ken Burns documentary) with him--almost
making it through a whole tape before having
to try out some of the techniques for himself.
When he throws the baseball, he hikes up his
leg just like a major leaguer. It's all very
entertaining to me.

Jackson's clothing choice for the day. I think this was in anticipation of the OSU baseball game he waited all day to go see (and then fell asleep in the car on the way to the stadium!). My favorite accessories are the two "I Voted" stickers and the sport socks & sandals combo.  He had a great time at the game, even though he mainly just made all our friends help him put money in and out of his baseball bank he got at the game. Come to think of it, I think they also supplied the money.

He is Risen, Indeed!

4.15.2006
We had a wonderful Easter, and enjoyed
having the Droske/Blair/Roberson/Ross (& Ray)
families all together again. We took up two
whole pews at church! The weekend was a
perfect combination of family, food, drink,
and easter egg dye. I have a couple of photos
to post thanks to my cousin Mike...more to follow.

Happy Easter!
4.11.2006
Spring has come just in time for Easter.
Shoots of green are starting to peek
out from the brown of last year's lawn.
The flowers are blooming and the trees
are budding. Everything feels new and fresh.
Our little cliff swallows have returned to their
nest on our front porch. I feel honored they
have chosen our porch to be their home
for the past two years. I wonder where they go
over the fall and winter months? Click HERE
for a picture.

Let There Be Light!
3.26.2006
David may have found a new calling as the
Ross family electrician. I was so proud
of my self proclaimed "hater of house
repair" husband today! The hum
of the 900 watts blazing from our
newly installed dining room fixture is
begging for a dimmer switch. It's a little
like looking into the sun... but David can
fix that!

We visited with our friends Buddy &
Ann this weekend--at their new house
in Tulsa! They'll be moving in the next
couple of weeks, and we are so tickled
to be close again. No Ted Drewes,Cards
games, or Dave & Buster's, though.

2.27.2006
Our trip to Cozumel was wonderful! I think
the highlight of the trip for Jackson was riding the
tram in the Dallas airport--but we're pretty sure
he had a good time in paradise as well. Check out
some of our photos from this trip on the
New Pictures page. We'll have a few more to
add in the coming days/weeks, so check back!

Bowl for Kids' Sake was a great time & a huge
success! Go to the Bowl page to check out
how we did!

A New Year
1.4.2006
So far, so good. Jackson started
the new year off by finally escaping
from his crib, forcing us to convert
his crib into a toddler bed. He has done
better than expected, and we've only
opened the door after bedtime to find
him reading in his chair or playing cars
a couple of times.

I finally have Birthday, Christmas, &
Liberty Bowl photos on the New Pictures
page. Thanks for visiting!

St. Nick
Okay, so the visit with St. Nick didn't go
so well.  If you know Jack, you know he's
not scared of much-so we were a little surprised
when he started crying on Santa's lap this year.
I suppose it's not until you learn that Santa
brings you presents that he becomes a nice
looking guy.

12/6/05
Happy St. Nicholas Day!
Or "Nikolaustag" if you are Mimi, Oma,
or Opa. On December 6, St. Nicholas (Poppa/Mimi)
comes to the Ross house to leave goodies
in Jackson's shoes. There is a picture I
love from last year of Jack's tiny little shoes
overflowing with presents. I'll try to track
it down. Looking forward to seeing how
Jack reacts to stuff being in his shoes this
year!

Grandpa's Chairs Get a Face-lift

These are some OLD chairs. I wanted to be able to showcase them in our house, but they needed a little updating first.   Above you can see the finished rocking chair, which my mom reupholstered. The photo on the right shows one chair in the old fabric and one that I recently reupholstered.  One more to go!

Goodbye to the Saturn 1992-2005
Although neither David nor I are very emotional about our cars, we figured after 13 collective years with the Saturn, we owed its passing a spot on the website. The Saturn began its long and industrious life as a Ross vehicle in 1992.  Its chief duty back then was to transport David and his buddies to Bogey's Hamburgers, ping pong tournaments, and other adventures only known to David & the Saturn. It survived being driven into a ditch in Stillwater--How'd you do that again, David?  It went with David to camp every summer--survived the gravel roads, Wal-Mart runs, sweaty campers, trips to Roxy's, Sam's Throne, Sarah's near death experience on Hwy 10... The Saturn even survived one summer in the custody of Gayle with only one minor accident!  The Saturn spent four fun-filled years at Indiana University with David (except for the one year it spent in storage) and then back to Tulsa, then back to IU, then back to Tulsa, etc. I'll never forget the morning I passed the Saturn in the TU parking lot--David had driven it from Indiana the night before to surprise me before my 8:00 physics class! In 2000 David got a new car, and the Saturn spent a few years in my care. Those years were probably it's most exciting! (Those of you who drove with me in St. Louis know what I'm talking about). It was the only car in the family to have a security clearance. It was a great parallel parking car. On a few occasions it even rescued us or our friends when our newer cars broke down (Andy & Allison!) The circle was completed last year when Jackson was born and David began driving it again so that Jack could ride around in the "good" car.  Anyway, it's been a good car and we'll miss it.
