I
took these
pictures on a visit to Italy in 1999. I loved the contrast of the blue
water and brightly decorated gondolas with the buildings lining the
canals. I had the opportunity to visit my sister and her family who
lived in Aviano, just a 2 hour train ride north of Venice. I
didn't find Venice to be a particularly romantic place, maybe because
of my company (my mother and brother-in-law), or the stench of the
canals (which actually wasn't too bad due to the cold weather)-- but I
loved it. The history is fantastic as is the
shopping, eating, and drinking.

Backpacking Havasupai
March 2003

In 2003 I took a trip with two of my
girlfriends to Arizona. We had decided months before to backpack
Hualapai Canyon (an offshoot of the Grand Canyon, NW of the popular
tourist stop) in order to see awesome Havasu &

Mooney falls. After
we spent hours trying to get through to the permit office on the
Havasupai Reservation, (there
is only one phone line for the entire Reservation) we finally secured
permits and headed to Las Vegas. I took the picture on the left on our
way down into the canyon. The photo at the top right was taken at the
top before we set out. The rain (just our luck!) started shortly after
this picture was taken and continued for three days. The photo just
underneath is especially near and dear to my heart. After a LONG hike
down into the quiet, brown, rocky desert canyon, this is the first
glimpse of the paradise that is Havasupai. We all just stood there
speechless--forgetting for just a minute about our then very tired and
sore bodies. We would go on to see many
more
spectacular views of the falls, but this will always be the one I
remember.

Indiana University
Geological Field Station-Montana
July 3-August 13 2000

One
time, at field camp...
The photo on the left is a place called North Boulder--it looks to be a
generic piece of Montana pie, but I spent a week of blood, sweat, and
tears here alone in my "final study area." On the right is my
favorite picture from Glacier National Park. The wildflowers there were
absolutely beautiful and went on for miles. I have two albums full of
photos--to see more of my favorite landscape photos

Honeymoon!
London, Paris, & Rome
August 2001

David
and I embarked upon a dream honeymoon after our wedding in August of
2001. It was an intense trip--lots of travelling via planes, trains,
and automobiles, and TONS of walking thanks to a husband who had
to see EVERYTHING--but it indeed was a wonderful time. Check out some
of our favorite pictures from this trip
here.
More to come soon!
