What is Special Blessings?

Special Blessings of Arizona is a support group for parents who have a child born with Amniotic Banding Syndrome (ABS) or other limb differences. We meet informally about 3-4 times per year at a park, parent's home or at a special event. We are here to provide a great network for children and parents. We want to let children know they are not alone. Special Blessings has also become a resource for adult amputees seeking resources as well.

Our Mission

Special Blessings' mission is to be a network, a support and a resource for parents and children. It is also a way for children with limb differences to meet other children with limb differences to see that they are not alone.

Here are some comments from parents who have found Special Blessings:

Dear Adriane,

“Thank you so much for all the info you sent. Shannon just loves the Clifford book. It was so kind of you to send all that you did. You need to know just how happy you have made me feel! I’m so glad I was somehow led to your website that one night as I desperately looked for information regarding hand differences. Thank you and I will keep in touch. Enclosed are some photos of Shannon. I hope you can both meet someday! Fondly, Ellen.”

Dear Adriane,

“I'm reading this and am amazed...my daughter's story is identical. She is also missing her right hand below her wrist due to amniotic band and the way you described your hand is exactly how her tiny hand looks right now. I can't even find words to tell you how helpful your website is - I don't know anyone around here who can even relate to what we're going through. We live in Fresno, California. The hospital where she was born had never seen it and in all the births her doctor had been present at, she told us she had never seen it either.  It's like no one in Fresno has it. My heart aches for the things we don't know yet, but your information has given me some hope on what she will be able to do.”
