A Little Bit About Susan

I am a typesetter/graphic designer at a medium-sized university in the midwest. I was born April 2, 1949. On June 3, 2000 I married Chris Cogan, one of the most funny, delightful, kindly and intelligent men I have ever met.

I am very active in the local Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. ("What's that?" Check UUA.) Like most Unitarians I'm politically liberal.

I have a daughter from my previous marriage and four beautiful granddaughters. My son-in-law and I assisted at the births of three of them. (He, I and my daughter make a *great* team!) The older three girls were born at a mid-wife center in a home-like setting and I can go on at some length at what an excellent way that is to bring children into the world. A wonderful experience all three times! Littlest sister was born prematurely in a hospital. She is still very tiny but growing.

I write mystery novels, historical fiction, poetry and way too many e-mails. My newest novel Murder on the Waterfront, a mystery set in 1935 San Francisco, and is now available at Amazon.com. Jubilee, a historical novel set during the French Revolution, also is available at Amazon.com. An excerpt of both novels and some of my other writings can be found here. I have just completed Heart of the Tengeri, a heroic fantasy. Currently, I am working on The Man Who Needed Killing, set in 1935 Oklahoma. One day somebody kills the meanest man in town.

I love to belly dance and I'm a member of the Bohemian Tribe belly dance troup.

I'm an omnivorous reader, believe in being a life-long learner and am always giving myself crash courses in something that interests me. Paleontology is a passion of mine. If I were a man in the 19th century I would be a "gentleman naturalist." I even own a tidy little collection of fossils.

Some things I enjoy talking about (in no particular order): creation vs. evolution; religion in general; history, especially European prehistory; hand crafts, especially crochet, bead work, embroidery, basket making and crazy quilting; politics; African drumming, vegetarianism and vegetarian recipes.
