Have you ever wanted to have a reunion with the people from “the Band”? In November of 1999, this very thing happened. On November 5, 1999 approximately 50 former members of the Santa Barbara High School Band with the support of Terry Boyes and Isaac Jenkins, joined together and performed pre-game at Homecoming. The band’s impact was immediate as we marched into Peabody Stadium to cheers, smiles and standing ovations from the home crowd and visitors alike. The following day, the band marched in the Homecoming parade through the streets of Santa Barbara. There were members from as far back as the 1940s, all the way to a 1998 graduate. It was decided then and there that we would try to continue the momentum and enthusiasm to the following year.

But then we said, “Why stop there? Why not create a association of former band members and auxiliary groups to support the current program?” This is how the Santa Barbara High School Alumni Band Association was created. This is where you come in. First we want to invite you to participate in this year’s homecoming celebration. We will again do pre-game and are planning a Alumni Homecoming Dance for Saturday night. Don’t let the fact that you haven’t played in 25 years or that you no longer have an instrument hold you back. Just come to the rehearsals or the game for the fun of it. Then we want you to join us in supporting the current group of students create their own memories as “the Pride of Santa Barbara.” As you know, there is never enough money allocated to schools, and the music programs are low on the priority lists. We want to help by supporting the instrumental program. The Band Booster organization is made up of parents and they will be gone as soon as their child graduates. Our organization is one that can only get larger as graduates join. And we get to play music once in a while!
