Dear Members,
Please make every effort to attend this community forum and help us voice our opinions on restoring our wetlands!
Sincerely,
Joey Englert
The MRGO Must Go Coalition is hosting a St. Bernard community forum on Tuesday, August 11th from 6:30-8:30 in Chalmette (Council on Aging facility). The focus is the MRGO wetland restoration (making sure the community is informed, engaged, and aware of importance of the wetland restoration project for community safety and sustainability). It will be an informal, interactive panel discussion. We'll serve jambalaya and have an open discussion about the status of the restoration plan, the need for restoration, and how the community can be more engaged in the process.
We plan to use this forum as a starting point for future community engagement in the restoration process. It will also be a great opportunity for the Corps, the NGOs, and the local government to get some clarity on the community's vision and feelings about the MRGO ecosystem restoration.
The panel currently consists of: Greg Miller (USACE Sr. Project Mgr for the MRGO restoration study), William Hyland & Ron Chapman (St. Bernard historians), John Lopez (LPBF), and William McCartney (Parish gov't), Tim Doody (levee board president)
