Dear Members,
Please read the forwarded email from Wm. McCartney. The SBSL, along with the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation are co-sponsors with the parish in this Close MRGO Rock Throwing Event. Please let me know if anyone can provide boats to take people out to the rock throwing event. Also, I would like the league to provide some food and refreshments. Let me know your thoughts ASAP!
Joey
Mr. Englert,
You may remember me, I am William McCartney and we have met a few times in the Council chambers. The first time we were both talking to Brian Reaney, and the second time was during the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation meeting just a few weeks ago.
Anyway, the purpose of my e-mail today is to see how much involvement the St. Bernard Sportsman's League would like to have in the Close the GO Rock Throwing Ceremony that is scheduled for next Staurday March 28, 2009 at 8am. The event will start at the Breton Sound Marina in Hopedale, and we will use several boats to ferry the people that choose to attend to the actual MRGO closure structure. The rocks will then start to fly.
President Taffaro thought it would be a great symbolic gesture of the people of St. Bernard Parish getting to help actually close the MRGO.
I am looking to get several boats and their "captains" to come down and be in the water for 7:30am in order to get the people on and ready to leave at 8am.
I am also trying to set up refreshments and some light food. I will also try to have a port-o-let there at the dock.
Can you think of anything else?
Can you help round up some interested "captains" and their vessels?
Give me a call or you can e-mail me back if you have any thoughts or suggestions.
Thank you,
William McCartney
