St. Vincent de Paul Society Local News
St. Vincent de Paul SVdP News Marilyn
School is out in our area and the graduates are probably still celebrating
their achievements. This weekend we honor those who have sacrificed their
lives for our wonderful USA. God Bless them all.
We wish to take this opportunity to thank all of you who were able to
financially support our Conference this weekend. If for some reason you were
unprepared or another time is better for you please do not hesitate to mark an
envelope SVdP and drop it in the collection at any Mass you attend.
We do appreciate your generosity past and present. Thank you.

St. Vincent de Paul
Here we are at the end of May and approaching the
true vacation season. We wish each and everyone a wonderful, healthy and safe
season wherever you spend the time.
Just a reminder that our Vincentians will be
distributing envelopes next weekend for our collection. If there is a second
collection for SVdP it will be announced. Do not hesitate to drop the
envelopes in any collection, at any Mass, as they are given directly to our
treasurer.
The collection box for men's jeans is in the lobby
of the Church. The jeans will be sent to Sr. Carmel at the SVdP homeless
ministry. We will leave the box in place at least through the end of the
month. Thank you to those who have already deposited items.

Just thought we would give those of you who are
fortunate enough to escape the heat, as soon as Memorial Day arrives, a
reminder of our next collection. We are grateful for whatever we receive,
but can always use a little more. This upcoming collection is only our
fourth since September. That collection was Labor Day Weekend. The next
collection was Thanksgiving Weekend. We did have a collection without a
holiday, at the end of February, and now we fall on another holiday. Please
understand this is not whining, this is outright pleading. We are
experiencing tough times just as so many others are, but our work is so very
important that we ask you to please place a donation for SVdP before you
leave on vacation. If you will be here to celebrate Pentecost with the rest
of us, we have a collection scheduled and our Vincentians will be passing
out envelopes on May 29 and May 30 before each Mass.
May the Peace and Love of our Lord guide us
always.

St. Vincent de Paul
We have received an urgent appeal from Sister
Carmel at St. Vincent de Paul, Ministry to the Homeless. They are in desperate
need of men's blue jeans, shorts and backpacks. They especially need jeans in
the smaller men's sizes 30 thru 36.
We have received the go ahead from Fr. Scott to
place a collection box in the vestibule of the church. The box will be labeled
so please drop your donations in at any time. We hope to leave it available at
least until the end of May.
This is a tough year for everyone and it only
seems to be getting worse. This is the first time in several years that we
have been forced to deny financial assistance to those in need. Please keep
our donors in your prayers, we certainly will.

Hooray the wonderful people of the St.
Bridget Community have done it again. We asked you to help us with during
our food drive and you did.
It is our pleasure to report that 21
Vincentians put in 53 hours of hard work last weekend collecting and
sorting the foods received. Sorting as we receive the donations makes it
so much easier to stock our pantry. Drum roll here please, we received
1255 food items.
Please do not hesitate to call our
office and leave a message if you are preparing to return to your primary
residence. We will be happy to make arrangements to have a volunteer at
our office to accept your donations. Our office number is 480-807-1493.
Please do not leave food sacks in the reception area of the Church.
Wishing you all a very Happy Easter.
You are always in our thoughts and prayers.

Happy Spring Time to all our permanent
residents and winter visitors. Many of you will be traveling back to your
home states in the next month. We wish you safe travel and we hope to see
you again in the fall.
You should have received grocery bags
after Mass today. We hope you will be able to fill the bags and return them
next weekend. Our Vincentians will be out in front of the church to accept
your donations. The numbers of families needing assistance has been growing
steadily. It through your efforts and the hard work of our Vincentians that
we are able to bring a little stability to lives in turmoil.
Thank you for your continued assistance
to our less fortunate brothers and sisters.

March 13-14
St. Vincent de Paul News by Marilyn
I just got back from a meeting with
several representatives of nonprofit agencies and they are predicting that
the food banks will be very short of products over the next several months.
Our Conference will be holding a
nonperishable food drive the weekend of March 27-28 right here at St.
Bridget. We will be handing out grocery bags next weekend after all the
Masses. We are always in need of hygiene products, peanut butter, jelly,
macaroni and cheese, tomato products, canned meats and fish, refried beans
and pork and beans.
We do realize that many winter visitors
will be going back to their primary homes in the next month. If there is a
need to clean out your cupboards and you are not prepared to do so during
our food drive please give us a call at 480-807-1493. Most often someone is
in our office between noon and 2 P.M. to make arrangements for you to drop
off your food donations. We do not want to clutter up the church lobby with
food bags. If you do not reach a volunteer please leave a message and we
will get back to you.
May the Peace of Christ be with you all.
February 28-29 St. Vincent de Paul We would like to take this opportunity to thank all who responded to our appeal for donations to our St. Bridget Conference of St. Vincent de Paul. Your generosity is so very much appreciated. For those of you who were not prepared this weekend and feel you would like to share your blessings, please feel free to drop your donation in any of the normal weekend collections. Please do place it in an envelope marked for us. The initials SVdP will suffice. We will be participating in the Feinstein Challenge again this year. This Philanthropic Organization pledges one million dollars and challenges any non-profit agency that helps feed the hungry to conduct a drive beginning March 1 and ending April 30. The drive can consist of monetary donations or non-perishable foods. At the end of the period our treasurer will send a report to the organization on the amounts collected. Based on the percentage of food and money we collect, as compared to all other participants, we will receive a portion of the one million dollars. In the past three years we have received an average of close to $250. We are planning a food drive towards the end of March. We consulted Gail Morris our Pastoral Associate and she felt that it would be a wonderful thing to work into our Lenten experience. So if you notice any specials at the grocery stores please keep us in mind.
________________________________________________ On next weekend February 28-29, Fr. Scott has granted our Conference a second collection. This is the first collection we have had since the end of last November. Fortunately during the holiday season St. Vincent de Paul Contributing Members, and other very welcome benefactors, kept our Conference going. However, we are at a critical time right now and must beg for your generosity.
Our Vincentians will be distributing envelopes before each Mass next weekend. If for any reason you are not prepared to assist us please feel free to take the envelopes home and return them at any other Mass. Any contributions specifically noted for St. Vincent de Paul are always passed on to our treasurer. Your kindness is very much appreciated.
