There are many things that quickly distinguish the Group #36 Labor Day retreat group from the 50 or so other groups that visit Manresa each year. Among those differences:

=> The Labor Day Retreat group began in 1974 with Aubin A. Songy as Co-Captain; he is also SCB Man of Manresa Russell Songy's dad and the namesake of A.A. Songy Elementary school. Mr. Songy attended the first Labor Day Retreat and died on July 4, 1975.

=> For the first twenty-plus years, it was a Friday-Monday (Labor Day) Retreat. It is now a Thursday-Sunday Retreat, like most other Manresa retreats.

=> George Emrick has been Lead Captain of the group for 24 of the group's first 28 years of existence.

=> The food is a little better on the Labor Day Retreat than it is on the other weekends...I don't know why, it just is... (Rumor has it that Kermit spends a little time in the kitchen at Manresa.)
