Parish, friends invited to September 14 Fellowship Day
Afternoon event to include dinner, concert, auction & more
On Sunday, September 14, the Men of Manresa are planning a Fellowship Day in the SCB Roth gymnasium beginning at 11 A.M. Everyone is invited to share this special time with them and their families and guests. The theme of the day is "Taste and See and Hear the Goodness of the Lord."
For details about the event and purchasing tickets (the deadline is September 7), please see page 5 [of the August, 2003 issue of The Lamb]. But to learn more about the inspiration for the event, please read on...
Often people have told me of hearing the Lord speak to them. Some of us have never heard His voice, but many times in the early hours of the morning sleep is interrupted, and Jesus fills the mind with ways to praise Him. This Fellowship Day is one of those revelations. Very few, if any, of the men's choir are professional singers, but their love for their God has kept them together singing once a year for 20 plus years. This event will be only the second time in all those years that they have sung together outside of their retreat environment.
We anticipate some guests from our two retreat groups who are from other parishes in Louisiana and Mississippi. Come welcome them and help display our SCB parish unity.
As a side note I just returned from my July 2003 retreat. The men's choir had 16 members and was outstanding.
Recently Deacon Mike Stohlman's Sunday homily convinced us that "WE ARE ABLE" to do the Lord's work. This is one such attempt and we want every member of your families to experience the love we have for our God and for each other. We want to emphasize that we are FRIENDS IN CHRIST because of Christ. Come taste, and see, and hear the goodness of the Lord.
