I guess I could
tell you that I grew up in Chicago and never had any aspirations
of being in the film industry. 24 years ago I moved to L.A. and
still had no desire, never even thought about it. My experience
was always in business and I worked boring jobs in very dreary
cubicles.
One day, I was
laid off my job and really had to ponder what I was going to do
with my life. A friend of mine was a producer for commercials and
asked if I wanted to get into doing Craft Service so I did. I am
embarrassed to say, I didn’t even know what that was, but I said I
would do it anyways. I quickly learned that it was a lot of very
hard work but I did that for well over 2 years. During my stint in
food, I started to notice other positions on the set and
questioned what "that women" was doing over their with the stop
watch. I soon found out that she was the Script Supervisor and she
did the continuity. Ok, so what is that? Well, I found that out
also and sought out a school that offered a 20 week course. Soon
after I finished the course, I started doing free work for
students in college. This is where I really learned how to do the
job.
It has been quite a
learning experience the past 15 years. I have had some ups and
downs in this business, but wouldn’t trade any of it for the
world. I decided to move to Phoenix , December of 2000, and made
the move in February 2001. At first I wasn’t sure of the job situation
in Arizona, but I feel that I made the right decision. I travel
often and love seeing other cities and experiencing new
adventures. I believe that out of a bad thing, good always comes.
Losing my job in 1991 was the best thing that ever happened. Its
been 7 years now and film in Arizona is is booming. Much better
then it was back in 2001. I have
connected with some wonderful people in the business and have high
hopes for the future. |
