Point, west Mission Bay
- From Hospitality Point (red line),
- East on the bike path along the north side of the San Diego River Flood Channel
- Immediately before reaching the first bridge (Sunset Cliffs Bl), slight L - up the asphalt bike
path to the bridge
- R - Sunset Cliffs Bl bridge
- Immediately after crossing the bridge, R - bike path that is on the south side of the
San Diego River Flood Channel
- West on bike path to its end at Dog Beach (an off-leash area for dogs in the
community of Ocean
Beach)
- L - leave bike path and run down the cement ramp into the Dog Beach parking lot
- Southwest through parking lot to Brighton (head toward the one story
restroom building)
- L - Brighton
- R - Abbott
- L - Newport
- R - Bacon
- L - Santa Cruz
- R - Cable
- L - Orchard
- R - Sunset Cliffs
- L - Ladera (steep uphill)
- R - dirt path at the top of Ladera
- Follow dirt path/dirt road until it dead ends into Lomaland (Lomaland is an
asphalt road)
- R - Lomaland
- Follow Lomaland uphill through Pt Loma Nazarene College
- At the top of the hill, stay on Lomaland and go north
- Lomaland curves left around a church and then right and then the road goes
downhill and exits the college campus
- Downhill on Lomaland to Catalina frontage road
- At this point, you can turn right and add on out to the Cabrillo gate (black dashed line, a round trip adds
1.6 miles)
- At Lomaland (stoplight) you can add on miles down to Shelter Island by
crossing Catalina - see notes below
- Continue north on the Catalina frontage road
- At Talbot, the Catalina frontage road ends. Continue going north along Catalina for one more block.
- L - Santa Barbara
- Santa Barbara curves to the right
- L - Adair
- Steep downhill on Adair to Sunset Cliffs
- Please stop and look for traffic before crossing Sunset Cliffs. There is no stop sign at this intersection.
- Retrace your steps back to Hospitality Point the same way you came.
- When you reach the Sunset Cliffs bridge, you can keep going east on the bike path and use the West Mission Bay Drive bridge (the second bridge you come to)
to cross the flood channel. Using the second (east) bridge rather than the first
(west) bridge adds one mile to the run (black dashed line).
Add On to Shelter Island and back (black dashed line)
- From Catalina @ Lomaland (stoplight),
- R - Cross Catalina (to reach the east side of Catalina)
- L / North on Catalina about a block
- Merge R onto Canon
- Long gradual downhill
- Canon becomes Anchorage Ln
- L - to stay on Anchorage Ln
- R - Shelter Island Dr
- R - at the traffic circle to stay on Shelter Island Dr
- Run to the southwest tip of Shelter Island
- Run back the way you came
- When Canon crosses Talbot, R - Talbot
- R - Catalina (stoplight)
- Join step 27 above.
