But how many beads will I need?
Well, even without a Intel Inside Pentium Processor, you can calculate the number of beads needed for a strand using
the following formula:
Just remember that 1 inch = 2.4 cm = 24 mm (1cm =10mm, right?). So, multiply the lengh of the necklace by 240, and divide by the
size of the beads in milimeters. Voila'! You have the number of beads!
Examples:
1) 18" necklace made with 4mm beads:
Number of beads = 18 X 24 / 4 = 108
2) 32" necklace made with 6mm beads:
Number of beads = 24 x 24 /6 = 128
Remeber: since beads may be irregular, this number is approximate. Also, if you are knotting between the beads, add 1 or 2mm for each knot, depending on the tickness. Too complicated? Just buy more beads! ;-)
In case you don't remember...
Kilo = 1000 grams = 2.2 pounds
1/2 kilo = 500 grams = 1.1 pounds
Gram = .035 ounces
Ounce = 28.35 grams
Gross = 12 dozen = 144
1/2 gross = 72
Mass = 100 dozen = 1,200
1 inch = 2.4 cm
1 cm = 10mm
1m = 100cm
