01. Yamaha PSR-248 keyboard

You guessed it. Another lunchtime thrift run with Sherie. Hey, we have be prepared for when Hurricane Dennis hits, okay? For most people that means running to the store for bottled water and batteries. For us? Hitting up a few thrift stores before they close up shop for the weekend.
Newer keyboards like this don't really turn me on like the oldschool 80's classics do, but this is still a pretty nice one - especially for 25 dollars at RW&B. Features include: 61 full-size keys, pressure sensitivity, MIDI jacks, 100 "styles", 100 "voices", and 100 songs.
Special Bonus!! Song number one is "Star Wars Main Title"!
02. Five dollars = five LPs
We also ran by the Jefferson Highway Flea Market to give the vinyl a good look-see, and here's what I picked up:
01. Foxy - Party Boys (1979) I mainly got this one because the track list - consisting of a few Spanish-titled songs and others with names like "RRRRROCK", "Fantazy" and "Let's Be Bad" - intrigued me. Turns out it's just more cheezy disco junk. The copyright date made me suspicious, but something told me this album was special. Yeah. Chris Burke special, maybe.
02. Pepe Velázquez - Plays Songs from Around the World (????) Looks like it's from the 60's, but I can't be sure. Got this because I liked the cover, and it's from Elco Records right here in New Orleans. What's it sound like? Boring, unaccompanied piano wanking. Oh well.
03. Sweet Thunder - Horizons (1979) There must be a sample-worthy breakbeat on here somewhere, because this thing sells online for a bit more than albums by other barely-heard-of late 70's acts. I dunno, it's still in its shrink wrap, and it's a pretty boring album cover so maybe I'll end up selling it myself.
04. Wendy Carlos - Switched-On Brandenburgs: The Complete Concertos (1980) From Moog-manhandling virtuoso Carlos - who brought you the Tron and A Clockwork Orange soundtracks - comes this 1980 double-album compilation of his/her two 1969 offerings, Switched-On Brandenburgs volumes 1 and 2 (the follow-ups to his/her 1968 debut, Switched-On Bach.) Good find!
05. The Wonder Band - Stairway to Love (1979) Nauseatingly awful disco versions of Led Zeppelin faves "Stairway to Heaven" and "Whole Lotta Love". Featuring an unceasing four-on-the-floor beat and cheezy BEEEOOOO!! lazer disco FX, it should come as no surprise that I snagged this one for the sexy cover art. Here's the close-up:
