frequently asked questions:

01. Q: Who are you?

A: Christopher Seawall. Late twenties. New Orleans.

02. Q: What is this all about?

A: Thriftcrawler is a journal detailing my more interesting thrift store and flea market finds. This includes commentary on finds and occasional trip reports of thrift store outings.

03. Q: What kind of stuff do you go for at thrift stores? In other words, what's likely to end up on this website?

A: Outdated electronics, toys, keyboards, video games, vinyl, cassettes, CDs, books, movies, gaming consoles, action figures, board games, musical instruments...

04. Q: Where are these thrift stores and flea markets you haunt located?

A: Anywhere I can find them, but mostly in and around the New Orleans metro area.

05. Q: Why do you do these terrible things?

A: I'm not sure why I'm so drawn to thrift stores and flea markets. Is it the chance of finding a lost part of my childhood in a filthy cardboard box full of toys? Is it the thrill of flipping through dusty stacks of cheap vinyl to find records I never realized I needed so badly? Or is it the absurdity of knowing full well I'm out of toilet paper, but spending my last few dollars on something like this:

Seriously, I'm asking.

06. Q: What do you do with all this crap? Sell it on eBay like some jerk?

A: As you can tell from some of the pictures, most of this stuff ends up decorating my apartment. I suppose if I were to find something worth a lot of money, I'd consider selling it, but it would have to be something I didn't really care much for.

07. Q: So what were your favorite toy lines as a kid?

A: Transformers and G.I. Joe were my two mainstays. It's impossible to find them at thrift stores these days, and if you happen to come across them at a flea market, they're ridiculously overpriced. I was also into Madballs, M.U.S.C.L.E. figures, Star Wars, Ninja Turtles, Starcom, Boglins, Battle Beasts, Roboforce, Marvel/DC action figures, a little bit of He-Man, and anything from the Johnson-Smith catalog.

08. Q: What else were you into as a kid?

A: Comic books, MAD Magazine, Garbage Pail Kids, robots, my Commodore 64, my Colecovision, my Nintendo, cartoons, dinosaurs, space, drawing, riding my bike, Pee Wee's Playhouse, and "Rock Me Amadeus" by Falco. The usual stuff.

09. Q: This can't be all you do with your time, can it?

A: No, I have a job-type job. I'm also into photography, and I make music and draw as well.

10. Q: Where do we go when we die?

       A: Here:
