Hello, my name is John Hubner (aka Second Chance in the forums). I'm a digital artist that specializes in 3D modeling and texture design for games and 2D design and layout for print. I'm also currently the editor-in-chief of American Odyssey Magazine, a travel magazine crafted for affluent business travelers visiting Southern California. I've been creating digital art for over six years, and have worked with 3d Studio Max since version 1.0. I also have experience with Newtek Lightwave 3D and Adobe Photoshop - Illustrator - InDesign as well, and design and build all of my own textures.

Well, have a look around, and I hope you like what you see.

I'm available for contract employment or commisions, so please feel free to request a resume.

NEWS

Thursday, January 19, 2006: Added some new pics to the 3dsMax section. The images are renders of a speed test I took for a local 3D modeling job. I had to recreate a cell phone sales display from a single straight-ahead photo. Pretty cool stuff, actually. It was a lot of fun. And challenging to recreate the display from just a front photo. Doing the phones made me realize just how interesting and complex cell phone design is.

I also removed the news frame, and just put the news on this page.

Tuesday, January 10, 2006: Redesigned the site a little. I think it's a little easier to read now, and more organized. Also added this news frame in which to post updates and show that the site is being kept recent.

I'm still working hard on the Star Wars: Wings of Defiance game models. Most recently I've finished the Tie Fighter and X-Wing cockpit models, rebuilt the Tie Fighter and Tie Interceptor models and fixed up their textures to be a little more accurate. Pics are in their respective pages. I've also finished most of the texture work on the Star Destroyer model. Click on the links to view the progress.

Late 2005: I was recently offered a 3D modeling contract job with Electronic Arts (EA Games) at their Redwood Shores studios. Unfortunately I couldn't accept it, as it would have meant quitting my current job and relocating to Northern California for an indeterminate length of time. Oh well, maybe something will pop up in SoCal.
