What is
SGI-USA?
 
Soka Gakkai International (SGI-USA) is an American Buddhist association that promotes world peace and individual happiness based on the teachings of the Nichiren school of Mahayana Buddhism. Its membership reflects a broad range of ethnic and social diversity.

With centers throughout the country, SGI-USA makes its headquarters in Santa Monica, California. SGI-USA is affiliated with the worldwide SGI organization that has more than 12 million members in more than 190 countries and territories, with its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. The Southwest Zone includes the following three regions: Phoenix, Arizona, and Southwest. The Phoenix region encompasses central and west Phoenix, the west valley, and northern Arizona. The Arizona region encompasses the east valley and Tucson. The Southwest region encompasses New Mexico and El Paso.

Bookstore hours are: Wednesday's from 6:30-7pm and 8-8:30pm and the first two Sundays of each month from 9:30-10am and 11:30-12noon.

The new Phoenix Community Center, which opened on August 24, 2002, is conveniently located just three miles northeast of downtown Phoenix in the foothills of Piestewa Mountain, one of the most beautiful and most popular hiking sites in the valley.
