Michael Hahn has more than thirty years' experience with information technologies, more than fifteen as a practitioner and instructor of SGML/XML-based information systems.
Michael has spent a large part of that time reading, writing, evaluating, and troubleshooting Document Type Definitions (DTDs) and tagged documents. He was part of the ATLIS Consulting Group team responsible for the Pinnacles Component Information Standard, a data interchange application for the semiconductor industry, and subsequently assisted in the design of PCIS-compliant authoring sets for National Semiconductor and Philips Semiconductors. As a senior consultant for Architag Solutions, Michael provided technical expertise for the PCIS Review Board and developed revised DTD modules for PCIS versions 1.4 and 1.4.1. He was also part of the team responsible for development of the PCIS-related standard for timing diagram and waveform information, Timing Diagram Markup Language (TDML).
Michael's recent experience has mostly been in the development of XSL applications (both XSLT and XSL-FO) for conversion of XML data to PDF, using both open-source and commercial FO processors.
Michael has developed DTD suites for manufacturers, commercial publishers, scientific associations, professional societies, and government agencies, including:
American Chemical Society,
Deere & Company,
Educational Testing Service,
Mercedes-Benz,
Motorola,
Texas Workers' Compensation Insurance Fund, and
The United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP).
In addition to his duties as both an analyst and facilitator in information analysis sessions, Michael has also taught a variety of classes in SGML and XML to professional associations, publishing companies, and manufacturers. Those organizations include:

Novell.
Prior to his work as a consultant, Michael accumulated seventeen years' experience in mainframe and small systems operations and applications for a bank, a book bindery, and the National Wildlife Federation.
