In 1962, WSLS-TV viewers
were introduced to a new TV experience, The Ebb & Andy Show,
featuring Gordon Reid as Ebb Tide and Andy Petersen as Mr. Andy.

But they were not alone.
Ebb had relatives. From left to right here's Tongue Tide (Bill
Purcell), Moon Tide (Tom Morrison), Bow Tide (K.E. Smith), Hog Tide
(John Horner), Ebb Tide (Gordon Reid), Paw Tide (Roy Lemon),
Ought-to-be Tide (Glenn Howell), and Andy Petersen, master of
ceremonies holding the leash of Dog Tide.

Much of the show
revolved around the banter between "hillbilly" Ebb Tide and "city
feller" Mr. Andy. Routinely, Mr. Andy's logical observations were
trumped by Ebb's mountain wisdom.

But the main draw of the
show was the music. All of the "Tide family" were in fact
accomplished musicians with many years of experience performing
country, popular and bluegrass music. This combination of comedy and good music made the show a hit.

Here Roy Lemon (Pa
Tide), Bill Purcell (Tongue Tide) and Gordon Reid (Ebb Tide)
entertain a group of people at the Hotel Roanoke.
