shannara kennels was established and registered in 1983 with ASCA and in 2006 with AKC. in the beginning, our focus was with aussies, competing primarily in conformation and obedience and dabbling in tracking, herding and agility.
in 2005, we extended our kennel to specialize in pembroke welsh corgis as well as aussies. we were hooked on the corgis after purchasing our first. our corgis have been imported from canada and all over the u.s. to find healthy, stable, rich-colored corgis; presently, the corgis are competing in conformation, with future plans for obedience, agility and weight pulling.
all breeding stock are screened clear of hereditary diseases and are being shown in: ASCA, UKC and AKC
our puppies are exposed to children and a variety of animals. the puppies leave our home to yours highly socialized, with their first shot and wormed.
in addition to the dogs, our family's interests also include birds, fish, cats, rabbits, lizards, a tortoise, a pair of guinea pigs and two goats.
Micki maintains a rabbit sanctuary, raises a variety of finches - shaftails, gouldians, strawberries - and budgies. we also have some love birds and some parrots.
the lizards belong to our sons, they have bearded dragons and geckos.
all this keeps us busy, but is satisfying and enjoyable; everyone chips in and it teaches the children responsibility.
