Emily Kaitz always likes to have some special event on her birthday.   For her birthday present in 1999, she asked me and Louise Goldberg to come to Fayetteville and make a live album in the studio.  A little negotiation got percussionist Elyse Angelo (from Oklahoma City) and multi-instrumentalist Greg Lowry (from Austin) invited to the session as well.

So the stage was set for October 18th, 1999:  between the hours of 1 and 8 pm the five of us recorded this album, live in the studio.  Although some selections were omitted from the recording, “The Fayetteville Session” is pretty much just a record of that afternoon just as it happened, from start to finish.  The five of us chose to eschew the cold perfection of studio recording for the raw, unpredictable quality of our live shows that we enjoy and our audience has come to expect.

With jazz and swing standards, original songs from Louise and myself and especially from the prolific Emily Kaitz, “The Fayetteville Session” is a musical buffet of styles and emotions.  The album is available from Emily or from me.
