The Japanese art of Ikebana aims to reveal and embellish the form and style of nature. I have created a vase used in the art of Ikebana known as "Moribana." In the base of the Moribana is Kenzans (pin holder) to help with your flower placement.

This is an age-old technique of glass fusing. With the addition of 20th century types of glass and modern kiln technology I am able to turn my original designs into illuminated images. All my pieces consist of at least 3 layers of glass, sometimes including one layer with a sandblasted image on it. The dichroic and iridescent glass is used to add more dimension to the piece as the light transmits and reflects differently. They are placed in a kiln, high fired for several hours and then cooled slowly.

Each design is unique in shape and colors. No two can be exactly alike. My designs are made in various sizes of small, large, extra-large and commissioned work.

In addition to Moribana vases I also make candle oil lanterns using the same fused glass shapes and technique as the vases. The candle lanterns use a permanent fiberglass wick. These lanterns glow with color and reflection as the flame illuminates the features in the dichroic glass.
