Shindokan Budo

                      Classical Japanese Martial Traditions

Welcome to the Shindokan Budo Dojo website.   Shindokan Budo is dedicated to the study and promotion of classical Japanese martial traditions in New England and is the first dojo in the Southern Rhode Island & Southeastern Connecticut area to offer study and training in authentic Koryu Bujutsu, the classical martial arts, of feudal Japan. Shindokan Budo is a Shibu Dojo within the Nippon Kobudo Jikishin-Kai/Jikishin-Kai International, the organization that houses the lineages of the authentic koryu traditions that we practise.  These traditions include Muso Jikiden Eishin-ryu Iai-Heiho (Iaijutsu), Kenjutsu and Shindo Muso-ryu Jojutsu.  We also study Aikijujutsu, as a sub-art to our Iaijutsu and Kenjutsu.

The study of the arts practised at Shindokan Budo is training in the martial traditions and methods that have come down to us from antiquity.  The long-term study of these arts can contribute to the development of life protection skills, increased health, greater longevity, leadership attributes, clarity of mind, the infusion of courtesy and the cultivation of a code of ethical and moral conduct.

 Acknowledgements:

Our sincere gratitude goes to Shimabukuro, Masayuki Hidenobu, Hanshi and Carl Long, Shihan for accepting us as students under their guidance and authorizing our dojo under the auspices of the Nippon Kobudo Jikishin-Kai and the Jikishin-Kai International.
